This mini-album has sizzling deserving memorable tracks with great pacing, intricate gothic and science fiction nightmares, subtle whispering vignettes, walls of sound and insistent and satisfying storytelling imagery. Approaching the entrance. Moving through the door. On an elevator, elevate to level eight. Red light increment, rising metal box. Mouthwatering moonstone humming. Resistance down, reel the fish in. I will be strong and I will stay home and I will make love to no one at all. And I will decline your twisted kiss, but I can only resist for so long. A sinking feeling: consensual captivation, a brisk walk in a known direction, sweet sexual manipulation. And as the heart is fleeting, and as the head is pounding, every thought is silent, every cell a furnace. Breathing. Swollen. Watching clothing fall to floor. Naked. I understand your motive. I try to run from your bed, but I am on the hot plate and you have closed my eyelids.

Alone in the woods on an autumn night, reflecting back over your wasted life. Feeling the frost on your long black hair, you look to the stars and then - there! A halo of tiny green lights near the north star, zeroing in on your cheating heart. Growing in size, it's advancing fast, lighting the field and your path. Here I come, and there's plenty of us - unidentified flying object. I'm a circle of light, I will pass through the night - unidentified flying object. You can't cover your eyes when they're glued to the sky - unidentified flying object. The mystical gleam of the future ones - unidentified flying object. A deafening sound as the craft touches down, it's crushing the rocks and the trees to the ground. A symphony extraterrestrial screams and you shrink like a mouse to the ground. The lights on the face of the ship dimming low, a portal of light as the door is exposed. Hundreds of sweet little alien ones exploring this alien world. Are they outside? Are they inside? Are they outside, or government creation? Are they outside? Are they inside? Are they outside of your imagination? You gather yourself from the frozen soil, you can hear them coming so you run like hell. From over your shoulder, you see it ascend, like a beautiful phoenix blasting nuclear physics. Nobody really believes you.

The powder blue vampire is out so late, ten strokes to midnight out his door. On his way past the bridge, he's so lucky to be unholy, so lucky to be so flashy. He's got his blood - he's got it made. You can hear him hiss. Powder blue. Powder blue. And you would too in his place. He's wearing disco shoes. He's dressed in powder blue. With spats and a high blue collar, this is his smorgasbord: these young disco dancers - so swiftly he is out the door. You're feeling drained and he's on his way. He's wearing brilliant shoes. He's dressed in powder blue. His fangs do blood thangs - he's coming after you. Young disco dancers, you're running for the coat check. Well, you lost your ticket and he's got his claws on you.

Blood of blood of blood - down the cliff it flows. All draining blood to the rocks below. Blood of blood of blood - and the loss of life. All swims in blood in the bloodlines. Blood of blood of blood - all the vengeance now. All draining blood to the friends they knew. Blood of blood of blood - generations red. All swims in blood - men and women. Blood between our vanishing points, life force in the distant night. Like spider strings we pluck our way with the burning fires of armies. All the holy hearts - all the bloody teeth. All the holy blood - blood of blood of blood. All the holy hearts - witness the siphoning. All the holy hearts - they will control your heart. All the holy hearts - all the bloody teeth. All the holy hearts - they will control your heart. All the holy blood - they will control your blood. Blood of blood of blood - they will control the blood. You have your blood - they will control your blood. Blood of blood of blood - they will observe your blood. Blood of blood of blood - they will control your blood. Blood of blood of blood - all the bloody teeth. Big blood brother pumping blood. Big blood brother moving units. All blood brothers parenthood. All blood brothers pumping blood. Big blood sister moving units. Blood of blood - they watch the blood. Blood of blood - the blood, the blood, blood. Blood of blood - they watch your blood.

Our lips had been sipping on that bittersweet wine, speaking to horrors of the ghostly divine, devouring fowl, grapes and venison pie. We dusted off prayer books, threw them into the fire. We spoke scarlet letters in the amethyst twitch grass and called to the sweet gargoyles listening: how much longer must we remain alive? Now, you have gone from this world, I have been left behind. So, here we are now at the end of the line. The labours of romance we exorcized, our imaginations tantalized and horrified. You cast me in your armour, pushed the rats aside. You spread me on the table, pushed me deep inside you. I was bound in shackles as you ran outside to call to the sweet gargoyles listening: how much torture can we actually survive? How strong is our willingness to remain alive? What will happen if we leave our bodies tonight? You in the afterworld, I in this tortured time. Well, here we are now at the end of the line. You have departed dear and I am still dying here. Well, here we are now at the end of the line. Running through the thick of the blowing heather, your hair dancing colour from your trailing leathers: such copper-coloured threads of your precious metals. Your cape was dusted with flower petals. Your hands gripping tightly to the moonlit rocks as you steadied your spirit for the crushing fall. Praying to the ocean for a mortal falling. You didn't mind the sweet gargoyles watching. That was such an unlikely night to try. That was such an easy way to die. Another trip along the tide plain, the coloured rings of sediment remain, the evidence of consequence buried in the grains. Boots and sand and rain, calling out your name... The gargoyles hiss the sunlight away and we look for you again... We look for you again...

Waiter waits, waiter waits, sits in his chair. Waiter waits, waiter waits, say goodbye to your loves. Waiter waits, waiter waits, say goodbye to your lovers. Waiter waits, waiter waits, for you. Waiter waits, waiter waits, fights for the children. Waiter waits, waiter waits, he's as patient as haloes. Waiter waits, waiter waits, for you. Waiter waits, waiter waits, for you.

about

The debut release from Dead Red Velvet, The Ghostly Divide, picks up where Karl Mohr Audio-Yo left off, with a grave shift towards heavy, mood-laden songwriting. Flirting with gothic rock, Mohr's 6-song collection of dark, slow burners features his best work from 1997-2001. For fans of dark ambient, goth rock, dark electronic, 80s alternative.
